Arecaceae
Arecaceae is a family of flowering plants called palm trees. This family is also called by the name Palmae.There are about three thousand types, growing mostly in the tropics. Only about 150 types grow naturally outside the tropics.
The first records of this family appeared about 80 million years ago.
Arecaceae family is the most known and widely cultivated plant family. A Date palm, Sago Palm and Coconut palm are the most extensively cultivated members of this great family. They are well known for products and foods derived from them.
